WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump announced he is considering sending federal troops to Louisiana to address rising crime rates.
Speaking to reporters before a meeting with Polish President Karol Nawrocki, Trump confirmed his administration is evaluating whether to deploy forces to Chicago or New Orleans.
“We’re going to be going to, maybe Louisiana, and you have New Orleans, which has a crime problem,“ Trump stated.
The president confidently predicted that federal intervention would resolve the situation quickly.
“We’ll straighten that out in about two weeks,“ he added.
This potential deployment follows previous federal troop actions in Washington to maintain order.
The administration continues to assess which cities require immediate federal assistance for crime reduction.
No specific timeline has been provided for the final decision on troop deployments. – Reuters
