PM urges religious leaders to unite in defending justice and humanity

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged religious leaders from all faiths to strengthen their roles in defending justice, compassion, and universal values.

He made this call during his opening address at the 2nd International Summit of Religious Leaders, highlighting concerns about rising global distrust and moral decline.

“All religious leaders must unite and defend what humanity is and what belief is,” Anwar stated firmly.

He emphasised the need for a united front among faith leaders against forces that completely reject religious belief.

Anwar expressed particular concern about what he described as a decline in trust and understanding among political leaders worldwide.

He noted that many global leaders speak about democracy and human rights but fail to apply these values consistently.

This inconsistency becomes especially apparent when dealing with other nations or communities, according to the Prime Minister. – Bernama
