TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR manager Thomas Frank expressed confidence his team will be competitive in their UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
The match marks Frank’s first official game in charge after replacing Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked despite winning the Europa League last season.
Frank acknowledged PSG’s strong form after their dominant Champions League triumph but insisted Spurs are prepared for the challenge.
He described the game as a massive opportunity for Tottenham to prove themselves against one of Europe’s top sides.
Spurs ended a 17-year trophy drought last season but struggled in the Premier League, finishing 17th under Postecoglou.
Frank, who previously led Brentford to a top-10 finish, was brought in to bring stability and consistency to the squad.
Defender Ben Davies praised Frank’s impact, saying the players are enjoying his energetic approach ahead of the big match.
Tottenham will be without Son Heung-min, who joined LAFC, and injured playmaker James Maddison for the encounter.
Davies stressed the importance of senior players stepping up in Son’s absence to support the team’s younger talents.
Striker Dominic Solanke is fit to feature, but midfielder Yves Bissouma was excluded for disciplinary reasons.
New signing Mohammed Kudus could make his debut, while Spurs remain linked with Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.
Frank refused to comment on transfer rumours, focusing instead on the immediate challenge against PSG.
The match will test Tottenham’s readiness under their new manager as they aim to start the season strongly. – AFP
