TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR manager Thomas Frank has declared he will ignore the Premier League table until April despite his team’s impressive start to the new campaign.
Frank’s side have secured three victories from their opening four league matches under the Danish manager’s leadership.
The team also began their Champions League campaign with a positive result against Villarreal on Tuesday.
Third-placed Tottenham could potentially move to the top of the table with a victory at Brighton on Saturday if current leaders Liverpool suffer defeat in the Merseyside derby against Everton.
When questioned about when he would begin monitoring the title race by examining the standings, Frank provided a clear response to reporters on Friday.
The manager stated he occasionally glances at the table after matches and expresses surprise at certain team positions because he deliberately avoids regular checking.
Frank emphasised his commitment to focusing exclusively on his own team’s performances and development rather than external factors.
The former Brentford manager has made an immediate impact since arriving in north London to replace the dismissed Ange Postecoglou during the close-season.
Despite the strong start, the 51-year-old manager recognises he cannot afford distractions regarding potentially ending Tottenham’s long wait for an English title dating back to 1961.
Frank is currently rebuilding a squad that experienced both success and disappointment under previous management.
The team won the Europa League under Postecoglou but suffered their worst top-flight campaign since 1976-77 by finishing 17th in the Premier League last season.
The manager acknowledged the importance of dreams and hopes for supporters while emphasising his different responsibilities as the person closer to the action.
Frank explained he must maintain a level-headed approach and concentrate on ensuring each training session reaches perfection like the one conducted today.
The manager praised the quality of the recent training session involving coaches, staff and top players where everything operated smoothly.
His primary focus remains on doing everything possible to ensure the team continues achieving positive results. – AFP
