KUALA LUMPUR: DAP National Deputy Chairman Nga Kor Ming has lauded the government’s move to guarantee matriculation placements for students scoring 10As and above in the 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams. The decision, announced by the Ministry of Education (MOE), underscores the MADANI Government’s dedication to meritocracy and equal opportunities.
Nga stated that the policy, which applies to all races and backgrounds, rewards academic excellence and ensures no high-achieving student is overlooked. “This inclusive approach reflects the government’s appreciation for local talents and its commitment to empowering youth through quality education,“ he said in a statement today.
The Housing and Local Government Minister highlighted that the decision aligns with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s pledge last year, reinforcing public trust in the education system. He also noted that the existing Bumiputera quota remains unchanged, balancing inclusivity with current policies.
“DAP supports initiatives that celebrate academic success while promoting social equity. Education is key to building a fairer, more progressive nation,“ Nga added.
MOE confirmed that all eligible students who applied for the Matriculation Programme will receive offers, following a Cabinet agreement.
