Einzelne Schlagzeilen k\u00f6nnen dabei schnell den Eindruck einer teils noch nie dagewesenen Entwicklung der Ausweitung von Br\u00e4nden erwecken. Diese wird schlie\u00dflich oftmals dem Klimawandel zugeschrieben.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">Zun\u00e4chst vorweg: Jeder Waldbrand stellt eine ernste Gefahr f\u00fcr Mensch und Natur dar. Feuer, wenn es unkontrolliert lodert, ist oftmals lebensbedrohlich. Gleichzeitig ist eine richtige Einordnung ebenso wichtig. Der Blick auf die wahren Ursachen der Br\u00e4nde und der Vergleich mit Daten aus der Vergangenheit bringt Klarheit.<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"heading-2 mb-3 pt-2  lg:pt-1 xl:pt-2.5\">Mehrere Waldbr\u00e4nde in Deutschland<\/h2>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">Am Freitag, 14. August, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epochtimes.de\/politik\/deutschland\/huertgenwald-panzer-gegen-waldbrand-1-800-evakuiert-brandursache-unklar-a5581158.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">loderte<\/a> ein Waldbrand in der nordrhein-westf\u00e4lischen Gemeinde <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epochtimes.de\/politik\/deutschland\/landrat-lage-bei-huertgenwald-stabilisiert-sich-weltkriegsmunition-erschwert-loescharbeiten-a5581346.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">H\u00fcrtgenwald<\/a>. Die Flammen waren bis auf wenige Hundert Meter an den Ortsteil Gey heranger\u00fcckt. August, drei weitere gr\u00f6\u00dfere Waldbr\u00e4nde. Nahe der saarl\u00e4ndischen Stadt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welt.de\/regionales\/rheinland-pfalz-saarland\/article6a7ea65ea87e8142c31cf995\/waldbrand-im-saarland-loescharbeiten-dauern-an.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ottweiler<\/a> im Landkreis Neunkirchen war die Feuerwehr seit Donnerstagnachmittag im Einsatz. Zwar hatte sie den Waldbrand unter Kontrolle, Andreas Kuhn, Sprecher der Feuerwehren, gab jedoch noch keine endg\u00fcltige Entwarnung. \u201eAuf der rund 3,6 Hektar gro\u00dfen Brandfl\u00e4che in einem 10 Hektar (ha) gro\u00dfen Waldst\u00fcck befinden sich weiterhin zahlreiche Hotspots und Glutnester\u201c, teilte er mit.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">Rund 100 Einsatzkr\u00e4fte waren mit L\u00f6scharbeiten nahe der rheinland-pf\u00e4lzischen Ortsgemeinde Bengel besch\u00e4ftigt. \u201eDer Brand ist unter Kontrolle. Es gibt nur noch Glutnester\u201c, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zeit.de\/news\/2026-08\/14\/waldbrand-bei-bengel-unter-kontrolle-glutnester-bleiben\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">informierte<\/a> eine Sprecherin der Kreisverwaltung Bernkastel-Wittlich am Freitagmorgen.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">Seit Dienstagabend,\u00a0<span data-prompt-literal-paste=\"\">11. August<\/span>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epochtimes.de\/politik\/deutschland\/waldbrand-fuer-plauen-groesster-brand-der-letzten-30-jahre-a5579074.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brannten<\/a> zudem Waldfl\u00e4chen nahe der s\u00e4chsischen Kreisstadt Plauen. In der Nacht zum Freitag waren dort rund 130 Einsatzkr\u00e4fte im Einsatz. Sie versuchten, neu aufflammende Glutnester einzud\u00e4mmen oder zu l\u00f6schen. Zudem setzte die Feuerwehr eine Drohne ein, um Glutnester effektiver aufzusp\u00fcren. Auch am Wochenende <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/8\/14\/wildfires-force-thousands-to-flee-as-blazes-spread-across-europe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">k\u00e4mpften<\/a> Feuerwehrleute besonders in Frankreich, Kroatien und Griechenland gegen die Feuer.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">So brennt etwa seit Donnerstag, 13. August, ein Waldgebiet bei der s\u00fcdwestfranz\u00f6sischen Gemeinde Luglon. Die zerst\u00f6rte Fl\u00e4che umfasst inzwischen rund 1.600 Hektar. Etwa 650 Menschen wurden bislang vorsorglich evakuiert. Die Feuer erfassten neben Waldgebieten auch Siedlungen. Laut lokalen Medien wurden 14 Menschen ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert, sieben davon befanden sich in lebensbedrohlichem Zustand.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">Griechenland hat aufgrund mehrerer Waldbr\u00e4nde unl\u00e4ngst landesweit die h\u00f6chste Waldbrandwarnstufe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2026\/08\/14\/wall-of-fire-forces-sea-evacuation-in-greece-as-wildfires-continue-across-europe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ausgerufen<\/a>. Das Mittelmeerland leidet noch immer unter den Folgen von <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epochtimes.de\/politik\/ausland\/erneut-waldbrand-nahe-athen-ausgebrochen-waldbrand-in-suedfrankreich-unter-kontrolle-a5577473.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Br\u00e4nden<\/a> in diesem Monat. Bei Kassandria auf der Halbinsel Kassandra waren die Einsatzkr\u00e4fte am Wochenende weiterhin mit den Folgen eines Waldbrandes besch\u00e4ftigt. Landesweit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekathimerini.com\/news\/1312528\/firefighters-battle-to-fully-extinguish-halkidiki-wildfire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">herrscht<\/a> weiterhin eine hohe bis extreme Brandgefahr. Sie schaffen jedoch Bedingungen, unter denen sich ein entstandenes Feuer schneller ausbreiten kann.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">Laut der Umweltorganisation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwf.de\/themen-projekte\/waelder\/waldbraende\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WWF<\/a> haben nur rund 4 Prozent der Waldbr\u00e4nde nat\u00fcrliche Ursachen, etwa durch Blitzeinschl\u00e4ge. F\u00fcr weit \u00fcber 90 Prozent ist demnach der Mensch verantwortlich \u2013 beispielsweise durch Unachtsamkeit oder vors\u00e4tzliche Brandstiftung. Immer wieder tauchen <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Rocko_Graf\/status\/2087861143943442617\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Videos<\/a> auf, die Menschen beim Legen von Feuer zeigen.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">In Frankreich hat das Innenministerium k\u00fcrzlich <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cvgxjn92x9jo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">verk\u00fcndet<\/a>, dass die Beh\u00f6rden in diesem Sommer bereits 420 Personen festgenommen haben. Ihnen wird vorgeworfen, Br\u00e4nde in den franz\u00f6sischen D\u00e9partements absichtlich oder versehentlich ausgel\u00f6st zu haben. Die Daten von Copernicus, dem Erdbeobachtungsprogramm der Europ\u00e4ischen Union, zeigen jedoch ein anderes Bild.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">Bei weltweiter Betrachtung zeigen die Daten, dass 2026 bisher ein deutliches Negativrekordjahr ist. Das bedeutet: In diesem Jahr wurden bislang so wenig CO\u2082-Emissionen durch Waldbr\u00e4nde verzeichnet wie seit 2003 nicht mehr. Da pro verbrannter Fl\u00e4che normalerweise \u00e4hnlich viel CO\u2082 freigesetzt wird, lassen sich aus den Emissionsdaten R\u00fcckschl\u00fcsse auf die verbrannte Fl\u00e4che ziehen.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">Vom 1. Januar bis zum 13. August lagen die weltweiten CO\u2082-Emissionen durch Waldbr\u00e4nde im vergangenen Jahr bei gut 900 Megatonnen (Mt). In diesem Jahr waren es im gleichen Zeitraum bisher rund 707 Mt \u2013 ein R\u00fcckgang von etwa 22 Prozent. Vor 2025 lagen die Werte sogar noch h\u00f6her, den bisherigen H\u00f6chststand gab es 2003 mit mehr als 1.400 Mt. Hier zeigen die Copernicus-Daten f\u00fcr das laufende Jahr einen Rekordwert. Waldbr\u00e4nde haben in diesem Jahr bis einschlie\u00dflich zum 13. August mit 0,21 Mt so viele CO\u2082-Emissionen freigesetzt wie seit 2003 nicht mehr. Von diesem Aspekt her k\u00f6nnte man eine Rekordzahl an Waldbr\u00e4nden vermuten.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mb-5 xl:mb-[15px]\">Bei der Betrachtung der verbrannten Fl\u00e4che ist die Bundesrepublik jedoch laut \u201eOur World in Data\u201c noch klar vom Rekord der vergangenen Jahre entfernt.
